Today has been “one of those days.” I love days like today. Days like today give me time to clean up. Haha! Clean up from the weekend. We had a great time this weekend with our annual neighborhood hotdog “fest.”
We set up a tent in the front yard and give out free hotdogs, candy, tea, soft drinks, bottled water and hot coffee to all the trick or treaters, parents and passers by. Family and friends come and help us with serving. We have a fire pit, set up the tiki torches and chairs and tables and welcome our neighbors.
It’s more than just serving a hotdog though. It’s serving a friendly smile and being a friendly neighbor. It’s making a connection with the people who live down the street. It’s making sure that the kids who walk by our house every day know that we are nice people, and that we care. It’s about introducing ourselves and letting people know that we are more than just the people who live at ###. It’s letting our neighbors know that we are real and it’s also about getting to know them.
It’s spending time with these precious little ones.
It’s sharing with our neighbors that Jesus loves them and we do too. It’s front yard ministry. It’s meeting people that live right here, on our street, in our neighborhood.
It’s just an Average Day on Everidge, Fifi
Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me.
