Seeds, dirt, wood and metal…what in the world do all of these have in common? Well we are in the throes of planning a raised bed garden. We’ve gone around and around on which style to go with. There are so many options to choose from. All brick, all wood, galvanized watering troughs, cement blocks, galvanized and wood combination, etc. We’ve basically decided to go with the galvanized watering troughs and galvanized and wood combination. I’ve spent hours combing Pinterest and websites, doing research and getting information. I have an entire Pinterest Board dedicated to this topic. We finally settled this past weekend on what we wanted and how we wanted the layout to look. We painted off the layout in our side yard. We then called 811 to have the cable and electric located before we began digging (post holes) and picked up our supplies. (Calling 811 is a great way to prevent cutting into your utilities. They come out for free and locate where your utilities are running. It saves a lot of time and trouble in the long run.) We gave them a week’s notice before we planned to dig.
Here are our favorites and the styles we chose to go with.
I sure hope my green beans look like this. Raised Beds with Teepees
Love this Garden Gate and I hope to have something similar. I think it is so adorable.
And no garden is complete without a water feature. Right? I just love the sound of running water and a bird bath and fountain all in one would just be perfect. I hope my vegetable and flower garden will be a peaceful place to enjoy the nature that God has created.
I planted my tomato seeds this week and a few others seeds as well. I can’t wait to get the plants and other seeds in the ground and start harvesting fresh veggies. I will keep you updated on our progress as we go along. Do you plant a garden? Have you tried raised bed gardening? Any helpful hints?
Have a great weekend.
It’s just an Average Day on Everidge.
James 4:6 But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
